Damage Policy
Last Updated: October 2026
1. Pre-Rental Condition Inspection
Prior to departing the hub, both parties photograph any existing scratches or blemishes into the inspection record. Customers are not liable for pre-existing wear documented during handover.
2. Minor Scratches & Cosmetic Damage
Normal wear-and-tear (e.g. minor hairline abrasions under 2 inches) is excused. Scratches requiring repainting, dent removal, broken rear-view mirrors, or damaged indicators are billed at standardized OEM part rates deducted from the security deposit.
3. Major Accidents & Insurance Coverage
All Orbit Rentals vehicles carry Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance. In the event of a major collision:
- Customer liability is strictly capped at the Maximum Damage Deductible (₹3,000 for 2-wheelers, ₹10,000 for cars) provided the driver was not under the influence of substances and possessed a valid licence.
- Insurance covers damage beyond the deductible limit.
- A mandatory Police General Diary (GD) or FIR must be lodged immediately for claims processing.
4. Total Loss or Vehicle Theft
In case of total loss or vehicle theft due to negligence (e.g. key left in vehicle or failure to lock), the renter is liable for the insurance claim gap and consequential losses.
